Hiking in Ojai
Are you looking for the greatest hiking trails in Ojai? We know about the best trails, hiking, backpacking, camping, and more in and around Ojai. Let’s take a look at them.
Couch Rock
Couch Rock is an incredible bench-like sandstone rock perched atop a mountain overlooking the Ojai Valley. A short but strenuous trek rewards you with panoramic views of the surrounding mountainsides, kilometers of citrus groves, and the lovely town – a must-do for any enthusiastic hiker or wildlife lover.
Foothill Crag
Foothill Crag is a stunning 100-foot cliff located about 5 minutes north of downtown Ojai. This crag is a wonderful day excursion for all levels of rock climbers and explorers, with two rock faces, 18 superb sandstone routes, and conveniently accessible top rope anchors.
Rose Valley Falls
This is the place to go if you want to take a short trek to a 100-foot waterfall. If you want to stay for the weekend, there's a campsite and a lake within walking distance of the falls.
Horn Canyon Trail
From Ojai, the Horn Canyon Trail ascends into the front country of the Topatopa Mountains. While hiking up Horn Canyon Trail can take a full day (and a full workout), the shorter option described here involves trekking up the trail's moderate first mile, past multiple creek crossings and views down Ojai Valley, before venturing off-trail up the canyon bottom past pools and a small cascade on Thacher Creek.
Sisar Canyon Trail
Sisar Canyon is located midway between Ojai and Santa Paula, in the highlands above Upper Ojai Valley. A broad dirt track leads up the canyon into Topatopa Ridge, a remarkable striped granite cliff. Rather than continuing on Sisar Canyon Path (also known as Sisar Canyon Road), turn around at an overlook 2.75 miles up the trail for a scenic day trek. Because there is limited parking at the trailhead on Sisar Road, you may choose to start at the bottom of Sisar Road along Route 150 and walk half a mile up this paved country lane to the start of the dirt road.
Wheeler Gorge
Wheeler Gorge has a campsite as well as a nature walk. Keep Wheeler Gorge campsite in mind if you're considering an overnight trip to the Los Padres near Ojai. Wheeler Gorge becomes an appealing option when the free campsites are full of weekend anglers.
